Welcome to the Productivity Podcast. This is just a quick one, really, to set up the upcoming episodes that Sue and I are going to be doing monthly around the book. Every Second Counts how to achieve business excellence, transform operational productivity and deliver extraordinary results. It's 144 pages of goodness that will happily send you a copy or you can buy on Amazon by typing in every Second Counts. And it is made up of 10 chapters and the primary author, although my name is on the book, has joined us. Hi, Sue, Hi Simon. So each month we're going to work through a chapter. Talk about it in more detail. Some of the key themes, some of the bits. I'll work through the kind of titles in a second, but just talk to us about writing a book. What was the experience like?
Speaker 2:It's tricky finding the time to do it, as always, but actually once we've got the structure and the whole premise behind it is what are the things that our clients most frequently ask us? So what are the questions that we get asked most often? And once we've got that premise and then set the framework actually we're fortunate enough to work with so many great clients that work across so many different industries, so many different things that we've looked at but actually the content and things was relatively straightforward. So it was a matter of finding the time, but hopefully it's intended to be very practical for people who are facing those operational challenges.
Speaker 1:And proud of your achievement, recommend it to people like their budding authors thinking of doing it. Any top tips.
Speaker 2:I think it was a useful exercise to go through and just reflect on some of the things that we've done. So from that point of view it was enjoyable and the main purpose is to kind of help people be more productive and hopefully get more people in touch with us so we can help them too.
Speaker 1:Good. So, in terms of structured chapters, kick off with an intro, then talk about where is your money really going? Then quite a topical coming out of Christmas, I think, and for those where they've got peaks at different times of the year how can I serve more customer at peak times? Delving to savings, balancing, investing in sales and controlling costs. Section on leadership structure, which is again quite a topical lots of that in the news. What can we stop doing to free up time for our people? So reinvestment rather than saving Additions. So again very topical in the news adding new services. How do you keep them efficient and not bake in a bunch of inefficiency? Thinking about the next set of productivity improvements. Quantifying savings so I'm sure we've all seen big projected savings, but are they real? Improving your budgets and then something became kind of back around to the end was around the rise of artificial intelligence and then some closing thoughts. So plenty to get through in the coming months, plenty to talk about. We'll deep dive into those chapters and look forward to getting into the detail.
Speaker 2:Yes, and if anybody who does want to copy us say we can, if you get in touch with Simon and he'll send you a copy. It is splitting to kind of a bit of background about the subject. Then there's case studies and then there's also quick wins. So for people who are really interested in the subject but perhaps you know aren't ready for us or somebody similar to come and help them, then there are suggestions for how you can do it yourself. So it's intended to be very practical sort of a handbook for productivity, really.
Speaker 1:So brilliant, Deep dive is good. So on chapter one coming soon.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
